FOZ - Friends of Zion Museum hosted the 5th International Jewish Media Summit.

Maj. Gen. (Res) Doron Almog, chairman of the Jewish Agency, lit the third Chanukah candle, together with about 100 journalists from all over the world. Doron Almog said "I thank Friends of Zion Heritage Center for hosting us... despite all the differences, we are one nation with a common destiny, and together we are a great light."

About Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem

The Friends of Zion Museum was established in 2015, in the Nahalat Shiv'ah neighbourhood at the canter of Israel’s capital Jerusalem, by founder Dr. Mike Evans.

The construction of the museum was made possible with the support of thousands of supporters, friends of Israel, from all over the world.

The museum offers its visitors an innovative, interactive experience on the theme of Zionism. Through seven different displays, the stories of heroism and kindness of non-Jews are told, stories of those who supported the Zionist movement and the establishment of the State of Israel, and who committed themselves and employed all means, despite overwhelming hardship and adversity, to restore the Jewish people to their Promised Land.

The tour of the museum opens with a presentation of “The Promised Land” where visitors are taken on an aerial tour of Israel, while simultaneously traveling back in time, viewing the biblical borders of Israel.

“The Founders”: the next presentation tells the story of the beginning of the covenant between God and the people of Israel through animation, lighting effects, narration, and original music presented in surround sound. Chosen by God as the bearer of the message God in the world and the founder of a great nation, Abraham answers “Hineni,” “Here am I,” and leads his family and followers from the land of his fathers to the land of Canaan, the Holy Land.

The third hall, “The Dreamers”, presents the unique stories of Christian dreamers who supported Zionism and believed in the ancient prophecies of the bible; modern-day prophets who contributed significantly to the realization of the Zionist dream and the establishment of the State of Israel. The stories told of Professor George Bush, Jean Henri Dunant, Reverend William Blackstone, and the Ten Boom family, are some of the founding stories of the Christian Zionist movement.

The “Hall of the Visionaries”, presents technology unseen anywhere else in the nation. The room is made up of 36 individual touch screens, which together create a digital mural and tell the stories of eleven heroes of Christian Zionism throughout history, and how they helped carry the dream of a Jewish homeland into reality.

A unique animated film tells the stories of several of those heroes designated as Righteous Among the Nations – Oskar Schindler, Irena Sendler, Chiune Sugihara, the Ten Boom family and Raoul Wallenberg – in the fifth display, the gallery of “Lights in the Darkness”. This powerful and emotional presentation chronicles the heroic deeds of these brave souls, who chose to follow their conscience and acted in an inspiring manner, risking their lives to save Jews and being a light in the darkest hour of Jewish history.

The hall of “The Brave”, using cutting-edge technology, tells of other Christian Zionists, who fought on the field of battle and on the field of diplomacy for the establishment of Israel. In this room, actors who depict these characters personally present their stories. The biography of each one of the Brave demonstrates their involvement in the establishment of Israel and their aid to the Jewish people.

The last display, and the most striking and emotional of all, is the “Promise Theater”, the ‘grand finale’ of the tour. A 3D presentation of the personalities seen throughout the museum, with beautiful scenes of the Land of Israel, and a special surprise feature is presented in a wonderfully visual way, leaving visitors with the feeling that they too have answered “Here Am I”, and have become a part of the mosaic of the heroes of Zionism.

Dr. Mike Evans,  founder of the Friends of Zion Heritage Center, is a best-selling author and a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize, for his long-standing contribution to the fight against anti-Semitism and the anti-Israel BDS movement. He and his son Michael, President of the FOZ Heritage Center, have been providing assistance for Holocaust survivors and Jewish orphans in Ukraine for over a decade. In the past year, they managed to rescue hundreds of Jews, both Holocaust survivors and children, from Ukraine; and delivered over 1,500 tons of food, medicine, and supplies to refugees stranded in Ukraine.

In Jerusalem, they constructed a Community Center for Holocaust survivors from Ukraine, and fully-furnished apartments for their use on the Friends of Zion campus. The Friends of Zion Organization, for many years now, has financially assisted thousands of Holocaust survivors in Israel, organizing parties, holidays, events and even Bar and Bat-Mitzvah ceremonies for those who were unable to celebrate as young adults. In the recent year they even financed the Holocaust Survivor Beauty Queen Contest, which took place in the Friends of Zion Museum.

The Friends of Zion Museum is a Zionist platform dedicated to the fight against anti-Semitism and BDS, and concerns itself with bolstering awareness for the historical support of the Christian friends of Israel. Their advanced Media Center holds dozens of events, activities, and press conferences in line with the museum's vision. The museum is a non-profit organization. The former Chairman of the international board was the late president of Israel Shimon Peres; other members of the board include former minister Maj. Gen. (Reserve) Yossi Peled, former Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. (Reserve) Dan Halutz, former Minister Prof. Ya'acov Ne'eman, and Maj. Gen. (Reserve) Danny Yatom.

An exciting premiere of the documentary film about the Samaritan community by the creator, producer, and director, Moshe Alafi

The exciting premiere of the documentary film about the Samaritan community was held Last night at the Cinematheque in Jerusalem, in the presence of the Samaritan community.

The film: "Samaritans: A Biblical People", was produced, filmed, and created by the producer and director, Moshe Alafi.

A fascinating journey into the cultural world of the modern Samaritan community and their 3,500-year-old traditions. Imperiled by the sparsity of women and the challenges of modern life,

the 850 Samaritans residing on Mt. Gerizim strive to preserve their unique identity before it is too late. Over the course of five years, filmmaker Moshe Alafi was granted a rare insight into this culture,

living between Judaism and Islam. The result is an intimate and compelling insider’s view of the Samaritan struggle against the odds, of their heart-wrenching choices, their joys, and sorrows.

This is part of an extensive and multi-faceted project by Yeshiva University to introduce the Samaritans to a wide and varied audience.

The initiator of the project is Prof. Steven Fine, a professor of Jewish History at Yeshiva University in New York, director of the Arch of Titus Digital Restoration project, and of the Yeshiva University Center for Israel Studies.

Yeshiva University is considered one of the leading universities in the US.

31 doctors and paramedics from across the world joined MDA’s 9th International Emergency Services Seminar – at the end of which they will join MDA’s International Unit

31 medical staff from across Europe and North America, senior doctors, hospital directors, surgeons, emergency room managers, anesthesiologists, psychiatrists, Red Cross doctors, emergency medicine experts, rheumatologists and paramedics, all arrived in Israel to join the MDA International Seminar for doctors and paramedics, and will join MDA’s International Unit at the end of the seminar.

During the Seminar that is taking place this week (4 - 9.12.22), the doctors and paramedics from the USA, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden will undergo 5 intensive days of training, including a multi-casualty incident drill, a joint drill with the Home Front Command, will visit the IDF’s medical unit, MDA’s National Operations Center and the MDA campus in Ramla. As part of the seminar, that is taking place for the first time since the Corona pandemic, the participants will hear lectures and take part in exercises in a variety of fields, and also discuss element of treatment relating to the pandemic.

The 31 participants will also volunteer on MDA ambulances and mobile intensive care units (MICUs), and at the end of the seminar will join MDA’s International Unit. The unit was established in 2007 and the members include hundreds of doctors and paramedics from different countries across the world who came to Israel to receive training with Magen David Adom – and will then be able to return to Israel and help MDA teams in case of need.

“Magen David Adom’s International Unit is one of our flagship projects, bringing together doctors and paramedics from across the world to be active in Israel’s National Rescue Organization,” said Vicki Angel, MDA’s International Unit Project Manager. “The 31 doctors arrived in Israel in order to learn from us. We are very pleased about this and thank them for their good will to help Magen David Adom and the State of Israel.”

MDA Director General Eli Bin: “It is a source of great pride for us that senior physicians, among them surgeons, experts in emergency medicine, psychiatrists, family doctors and anesthesiologists all voluntarily join us in the State of Israel from across the world and undergo training with Magen David Adom. This is of vital importance, as it means that in times of crisis they will be able to return to Israel and assist MDA teams in providing treatment on the front lines.”
