THE CHANNEL AND THE TOURISM MINISTRY PRODUCED A PROGRAM AND CLIP ABOUT THE ISRAELI OPERA FOR OCTOBER BROADCAST

The French television music channel Mezzo will dedicate its programming in October to music and opera from Israel. Mezzo's director general, Christophe Winckel, who arrived in Israel earlier this week, noted in a press conference that the broadcasts will include the Jazz Festival to take place in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem under the channel's sponsorship as well as programs about the Israeli Opera.

The TV channel, in cooperation with the Tourism Ministry, created a five-minute clip featuring the recent Israeli Opera production of Carmen which took place at the foot of Mount Masada in June 2012 as part of the Israeli Opera Festival at Masada. The program, which also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the production, will be broadcast throughout the month of October.

According to Eli Shukron, excavation director on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, “It is now absolutely clear that the Jerusalem’s water consumption during the First Temple period was not solely based on the output of the Gihon Spring, but that it also relied on public reservoirs”

"Escalandrum", the orchestra of Daniel "Pipi" Piazzolla (grandson of the famous Astor Piazzolla) will be appearing in Israel at the "Shablul" Club in Tel Aviv's port, on 11 and 12 September 2012. There will be two performances each day.

The setting was the acoustically wonderful Recanati Auditorium of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The occasion was the gala concert by the Israel Chamber Orchestra before its departure for a grand tour of nine Latin American countries. The audience of the sold-out performance was graced by the presence no less than six Ambassadors – Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Uruguay – and many Consular representatives from around the world. Also present were several Israeli VIP’s, including Ms. Orit Noked, Minister of Agriculture.
