Twenty professionals representing 10 Latin American countries expressed their commitment to join efforts to achieve a proper and efficient management of water resources to ensure a better quality of life for the people of the region.
The Latin American professionals, representing Argentina, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, and Peru, participated in MASHAV- CINADCO's International Seminar on "Combating Desertification: Water Management, Rural Development and Afforestation in Arid and Semi-arid Zones," held at Shefayim Campus, in November 2014.
Upon completion of the program, the participants formulated and signed a Letter of Intent entitled "The Shefayim Declaration," which reflects their commitment to become agents of change and promoters of concrete actions to achieve genuine regional sustainable development. They stated: "Only together will we be able to create a culture of proper and efficient management of our soils and of our water resources and thus ensure a better quality of life for our people."
