This first of its kind seminar was organized within the framework of the Indo-Israel Agriculture Project, and addressed plant protection issues in citrus orchards.
For the first time under the Indo-Israel Agriculture Project (IIAP), MASHAV organized a Plant Protection Workshop for citrus experts. The 3-day seminar was led by MASHAV’s senior plant protection expert, Dr. Shmuel Gross, Director of Extension and Administration Department at Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The main purpose of the seminar was to expose participants to plant protection problems found in citrus orchards, and possible solutions to tackle the issue.
The seminar dealt with integrated pest management; plant disease management in the nursery and in high-density orchards; data base modeling; and diagnosis techniques of fruit plant diseases.
The professional program included practical workshops and a field visit to the Khanaura and Hoshiarpur Centers of Excellence for Citrus in Punjab.
Over 70 IIAP project officers from the states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Maharashtra took part in the professional workshop.
