U.S. – Israel Sign Extension of Oil Supply Agreement
On April 13, the United States and Israel agreed via an exchange of diplomatic notes to extend the bilateral oil supply agreement that provides for U.S. assistance to Israel in securing oil supplies should Israel not be able to purchase oil on the international market. The agreement was extended for a period of ten years.
The agreement, which was first signed in 1979 and extended in 1994 and 2004, was concluded after consultations between U.S. Government and Israeli Government counterparts. The United States remains steadfastly committed to helping Israel preserve energy security and to continuing energy cooperation with Israel.
