His Excellency Mr. Isaac Gilinski, Ambassador of Colombia in Israel, hosted a scintillating reception to mark the Colombian National Day of Independence. Colombia has been a free and independent country for over 200 years now, and in the Ambassador’s words: “Israel and Colombia have been close partners and friends for several decades. We share common values and a respect for democratic governance and the rule of law”.

Among the distinguished guests, which included members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the Israeli government (including Minister of Agriculture Ms. Orit Noked) and Colombians living in Israel, was former Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Noemi Sanin, always a great friend of Israel. The former Colombian Ambassador to Israel, Mr. David de la Rosa and his wife Grace , also graced the event with his presence.

In his address to the guests, the ambassador spoke of his country’s international relations, its efforts on behalf of the environment, and for human rights for all its citizens. He also spoke warmly of the bilateral relationship and the Free Trade Agreement between Colombia and Israel. He proudly announced the newly-formed Colombia-Israel Chamber of Commerce – one more step to strengthening the commercial and cultural ties between the two countries.
