A festive event marking the 20th anniversary of the Rabin Government took place at the Rabin Center at Tel Aviv University .
A tour of the Rabin museum which recounts the history of the State of Israel alongside Itzhak Rabin's life story, preceeded the event.

Like Rabin, the center transcends differences between right-left and religious-secular, providing a place for thousands of students each year to face and help solve differences in a peaceful manner. The central themes of the learning center are democratic values, tolerance and coexistence.

In her opening speech, Dalia Rabin said: "It is an honor to celebrate what would have been my father's 90th birthday here in the legislative halls of the greatest democracy of the world...
One main component of his legacy which has been realized and the reason we gather today is Israel's special relationship with the U.S".

Rabin took on the role of Ambassador position in Washington in 1967 in the belief that strengthening the US-Israel relationship was the only hope for eventual peace in the Middle east.
dalia rabin described other components of her father's legacy including his illustrious military career, his attempts to establish peace with Israel's neighbors and the social & economic revolution he created."

A meaningful encounter with nostalgia beheld President Peres when he delivered his speech regarding  prime minister Itzhak Rabin before the former ministers, consultants and government spokesmen attending the event.

"I never recounted my feelings after those three horrible gunshots" said the President

"My work with Itzhak and the inconceivable parting from him left me a tearful man, who still misses him and believes in him until today."
Peres emphasized that the Rabin Government was a government of social justice and political wisdom. It was a government which sought peace and pursued it with courage and determination. It was a government which acted as a team with full coordination between the political, social and security factions."

"The figure of Itzhak rabin will always serve as a symbol, an emblem, and a shining example to the Jewish nation and people."
