39 student bloggers in the fields of Journalism arrived in Israel from the United States last week to discover the country through the eyes of journalists. Throughout their 10 day journey they met with Israeli media personnel, visited various media outlets and created a blogging project to document their trip and experiences. On Thursday last week, they met with a group of young bloggers of the website "MaVeZe" which offers an outlook and provides unique content to the Y generation. The young students discussed the way Israel is viewed and reviewed by the world and how the participants now see Israel as opposed to its presentation in the American Media. These young adults will soon integrate into the labor market and will carry with them the importance of serving as "ambassadors" to Israel where ever they may go. "Before coming to Israel, I had no idea how little information about Israel actually comes into the US and how most of the information that does come in is inaccurate and negative. I hope to work in the American media and change this outlook, tell the story of Israel through the eyes of my generation," said Sadie Shipman, a Taglit participant.Gil Kedar, a blogger from "MaVeZe" and a media consultant at "Spot Communications and Strategy": Unfortunately, in many cases, Israel spokesmen are not able to present Israel in an optimal light or they encounter a wall of International media who refuse to accept the picture as it really is. These things add weight on the shoulders of each one of us here. We are the true "ambassadors" of Israel, first to the immediate environment closest to us, then to all the media outlets surrounding us including the social networks."Kedar added, "You all play a significant as Jews living in the United States and as young adults representing Israel and its citizens. This is no less important than the Israelis living here. Together with you we can change the image of Israel in the world."
