Diplomatic Events

 

The State of Israel was represented by none other than Israel's Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Gideon Sa'ar.     

 

The Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Fernando Allo, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Paraguay warmly welcomed all present to Paraguay's 214 th anniversary of Revolution and Freedom of independence,. In addition to the auspicious 214 th independence anniversary, it was also the centennial anniversary of the Paraguayan Harp, the country's national instrument. played by David Carlsberg who was later accompanied by the Ambassador on guitar. The anthems of both countries were enthusiastically played and sung.

 

H.E. Mr. Alejandro Rubin Cymerman began his speech welcoming the Foreign Minister and all guests.saying that it is an honour to welcome you to this event commemorating the 214th anniversary of Paraguay's independence. Our Embassy in Jerusalem is adorned with the colours of our homeland, but also with the values we share with Israel: freedom, courage and a future vision. In 1811, a group of brave Paraguayans decided that Paraguay deserved to write its own destiny and since then Paraguay has been a country who silently have known how to resis, rebuild and be reborn again and again. Jerusalem and Asuncion are closer than they seem. In 1947, Paraguay was one of the first countries to support the creation of Israel. Paraguay wants an even closer relationship with Israel, not only from a diplomatic perspective but from a human, educational, technological and spiritual perspective.  In the midst of this celebration let us not forget that there are families waiting for the return of their loved ones who are kidnapped. Yesterday, 19 Paraguayan professionals returned to Asuncion after having received training in Water Management, a Mashav project. Paraguay is a gem yet to be discovered. A land of opportunity, abundant, renewable, clean energy, young talent, clear regulations and a strategic location in the heart of South America, while other nations are already investing in Paraguay you still have time. Long live the friendship with Israel and its capital Jerusalem.     

 

H.E. Mr. Gideon Sa'ar, Israel's Minister of Foreign Affairs addressed the audience speaking without a text saying that the Ambassador's speech reflected the strong friendship between our countries as well as the moral dimension  reflected in Paraguay's policies and attitudes. Paraguay demonstrates morality by hosting its 214th independence anniversary in Israel's eternal capital, Jerusalem. Last year, The Paraguayan Presidential visit was a highlight and we are eternally grateful to your country for having moved its capital to Jerusalem and for designating Hamas, Hizbollah and Iran's Revolutionary Guards as terrorist organizations. Bilateral relations between our countries are growing exponentially as last year Israel imported  26 million kilograms of cattle valued at $114 million. In the foreseeable future I  intend to visit Ascension with a trade delegation of 100 people. He concluded by thanking everyone present. 

 

An elegant buffet accompanied by wine was served.
