READY FOR PASSOVER AND HOLY WEEK
ACCORDING TO TOURISM MINISTRY ESTIMATES,
ABOUT 150,000 VISITORS ARE EXPECTED TO ARRIVE IN ISRAEL
FOR THE PASSOVER AND EASTER PERIODS

Acording to Tourism Ministry estimates, about 150,000 visitors are expected to arrive in Israel for Passover (25 March – 1 April) and the Easter period.
Within the framework of routine inspections carried out by the Tourism Ministry, inspections have taken place in various tourism sites around the country. These inspections show that the sites checked are indeed prepared to welcome visitors during this busy period. The inspections focused on cleanliness, the level of maintenance, operations, accessibility for tourists with disabilities, toilets and signage, among others. The inspections were also carried out in cities that are expected to welcome increased visitor traffic over the holiday period, including Jerusalem, Nazareth, Tiberias, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Dead Sea and Eilat.
The land crossings (Allenby, Rabin, Jordan River and Taba) will be open as normal during the intermediate days of Passover. On the eve of the holiday (25 March), the Allenby crossing will be open from 08:00 – 15:00 and the Jordan crossing will be open from 06:30 – 19:00. On the day of the holiday (26 March), the Allenby crossing will be open from 08:00 – 20:00 (all other land crossings will be open as normal).
The Tourism Ministry offices will be open, as normal, in Jerusalem, Nazareth, Eilat and Ben Gurion airport, offering information to tourists and Israeli holidaymakers on events, festivals, tours, attractions etc.
Today, Palm Sunday, will see the traditional Catholic procession from the Church of Bethphage on the Mount of Olives to Gethsemane, with over a thousand participants and Church leaders expected from all over the world.
