The joint meeting of the Israeli and Polish governments is now underway in Warsaw. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been joined by ministers Steinitz, Piron, Livnat, Peri and Orbach. Earlier, the Prime Minister met with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk. At the start of their meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu said, "We are two strong countries. Bilateral relations have strengthened in recent years. We have common values and interests. We remember the difficult past that the Jewish People went through here and, having established independent states, we look forward to the future together."
Righteous among the Nations Prof. Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, 91, is also participating in the meeting. He was imprisoned at Auschwitz-Birkenau for his activity in saving Jews in the Polish underground and currently serves as Chairman of the International Council of the Auschwitz-Birkenau state Museum
