On April 22, World Earth Day, The President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, planted a white chestnut tree of hope in memory of Anne Frank.
The memory of Anne Frank is in itself a permanent reminder to new generations of the evils which carry with them the
intolerance, hatred, violence and war.
In his address, the President emphasized that the memory of Anne Frank also serves as an incentive for human faith,
the awareness of the uniqueness and indispensability of human life, faith in others, the importance of the quality of coexistence,
respect for nature, and also confirmed the necessity to fight for the values of justice, fairness and solidarity
The President of the Republic was pleased that the planting of trees, dedicated to Anne Frank, at the Slovenian Memorial Park
will invite its visitors and inspire not only the beauty of nature, but also with the memory of the giants of humanity, and their appeal
for peace.
