President Peres said to his guests:
Ahmadinejad's speech at the United Nations is embarrassing and shows a deep historical ignorance – I intend to send the UN Secretary-General a letter which will include a history lesson for Ahmadinejad.

President Peres responded to the speech by President Ahmadinejad at the UN General Assembly and said to his guests, "The President of Iran delivered his speech yesterday at the United Nations, it was an embarrassing speech which showed a deep historical ignorance with regards to the deep historical connection between the Jewish people and the land of Israel. His comment that the connection was only 60-70 years old and that Israel was never based on its land is utterly ridiculous. I was embarrassed to see the president of a country deliver a speech at the United Nations without even knowing the history of his own people. Ahmadinejad should be taught a history lesson; Around 2500 years ago King Cyrus, the King of Persia, granted the Jewish people led by Ezra and Nechamia the right to return to Israel and to rebuild their home. The Jews lived on the land of Israel for thousands of years and there is no lie or leader that can remove chapters of history."
President Peres announced that he intended to write a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations in which he will ask him to give to the president of Iran a written history lesson from President Peres on the history of the two nations, who knew great friendship including the central role of King Cyrus who was a great friend of the Jewish people and allowed their return to the land of Israel.
