- Details
EcoPeace/ Friends of the Earth Middle East (FoEME) is pleased to invite you to attend
Monday 10th December 2012 Battir
The terraced landscape, dating back 4000 years, represents a remarkable environmental heritage of tremendous ecological and cultural significance to all the people of the region. In the 1949 Rhodes Armistice agreement signed between Israel and Jordan an exceptional decision was taken where both Jordan and Israel recognized the ownership of the land by the residents of Battir on both sides of the armistice line. Battir residents were granted free and unimpeded access to their land within Israel, so ensuring the maintenance and integrity of this remarkable landscape.
