"Tomorrow at 08:30 in the morning I am going to vote – I do it with a great sense of excitement and pride, as a citizen who loves his country. As a proud citizen of a democratic country. I call upon you all; do it – go and vote with a sense of full participation and pride. It's crucial that each one of you, once every four years, will show the world that this is a democratic country with citizens who love the country and love democracy."
President Peres added a special message in English to the international community and said:
"Despite the many problems Israel faces, we are a democracy every day and every morning. Tomorrow, I hope that most of the citizens, whoever can, will go and vote; freely and independently in a full day of democracy. So we have been, so we shall be. Our citizens will go the ballots and decide what the future will be."
