120 programmers partook in the WIX Hackathon this past weekend
at the company's office in Tel Aviv
of the WIX Corporate offices
in Tel Aviv and ended 72 hours later with over 32 new applications
for the WIX App Market, the leading platform for website building. Over 120 developers, designers and project managers gathered together this past weekend
with the professional assistance of WIX advisors for one purpose: to develop applications
to be integrated to WIX and enrich the 30 million worldwide customer base platform.
The developers will keep 70% of the profits their applications make and the 4 top
applications received an added bonus:
Weddingram: allows customers to share wedding and event pictures directly
to the WIX platform to allow for a larger sharing of precious moments.
They have an option of receiving $1000 Cash or 3 months at the WIX office in Tel Aviv.
Voicio, allowing site owners to talk directly to their clients quickly and easily
through a voice chat working on a WebRTC or Flash platform, were awarded $500.
EZanalytics, a simple trafficking application allowing customers to track
and statistically calculate website traffic, were awarding $250
Pineterest Feed were also awarded $250 for their application which combines
popular social network pages to allow the customer easier and quicker access.
Each developer received a personal "survival" kit which included refreshing kits
to keep them awake, catered food and a constant supply of name brand beers
(approximately 17 barrels of beer were consumed)
Due to the tremendous success of the event, WIX plans to hold an additional
Hackathon next quarter.
