Two rockets were fired at southern Israel's city of Eilat from the Sinai Peninsula this morning (Wednesday, April 17). The rockets fell in open areas within the city, causing no casualties or damage.

Warning sirens sounded in Eilat at 9:00 a.m. today, and local residents reported hearing two explosions. IDF forces searched the area and found the remnants of two rockets in open areas in the city.

The last instance of rocket fire directed at Eilat took place in April, 2012, when a Grad rocket fell on the city. Though there were no casualties, several residents suffered from shock. On August 2, 2010, 6 122mm Grad rockets were fired by terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula towards Israel. Three of the rockets fell on Eilat, one of which landed on a drainage pool located in the city's north. There were no casualties. Two additional rockets fell in the Jordanian city of Aqaba, in front of the Intercontinental hotel. A Jordanian citizen was killed and five more injured, one of whom severely. Another rocket landed in the sea.
