Senior members of the diplomatic, business and culture communities in Israel were summoned on June 25th, 2013 to celebrate the twenty second Slovenian National day as an independent country.

The dissolution of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Establishment  of Slovenia took place on June 25th 1991. The country is recognized today as an important contributor and has influence in many fields, as it is growing constantly. Slovenia, a member of the European Union, is a country that contributes to economy, trade, culture and tourism, and has shown a capable grasp on its way to handle the economic crisis that Europe and the world is  currently facing.

During the ceremony, the positive atmosphere was testimony to the cooperation between Slovenia and Israel, who was represented by the Israeli Minister of Transport and Tourism Israel Katz, and HE Alenka Suhadolnik Ambassador of Slovenia.

During her warm and friendly speech, the Slovenian Ambassador spoke of sharing her experience and impressions of Israel; she mentioned her visit to the Haifa branch of the Vizo organization as well as other places.  The Ambassador showed a remarkable knowledge of the country’s current events as she mentioned the plan to build a railway to Eilat.

Ambassador Suhadolnik reminded the audience of the positive relationship between the countries, as she announced the upcoming visit of two country clubs as well as the shows of Slovenian artists in Jaffa and Holon.

At the podium, Minister Katz expressed his admiration of the significant Slovenian investment in culture and its contribution to the cooperation in tourism, which is possible through the "open skies" agreements on economic and commercial issues.

Furthermore, Minister Katz blithely mentioned the fact that the Slovenian National day is coincidentally celebrated on the same day of his daughter's birthday.

Finally, a lovely band played nice tunes, which particularly excited the guests when playing the Slovenian and Israeli national anthems. Gourmet  and exotic food was served to all guests.
