The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Israel, Caspar Veldkamp, launched a play written and performed by the Dutch actress Hiske Eriks at the Holon International Women's Festival (took place 27 February – 2 March).
This year, the Fringe Theatre from the Netherlands contributed two plays to the festival: 'The Guard' and 'Mrs Cruijff -' both are solo performances by Hiske Eriks. In 2011 Hiske Eriks took the first place at the Fringe Festival with her performances as a museum guard and as a female version of one of the most famous Dutch football players Johan Cruijff.
Ambassador Caspar Veldkamp said: “A stronger position for women and girls can bring durable change to the world. Gender equality has always been an important issue on the Dutch agenda. I am glad to see how the Holon Woman Festival reiterates the importance of women’s issues. It brings me great joy to see how Dutch actress Hiske Eriks is able to make a Dutch contribution to this Festival with her performance of ‘The Guard and Ms Cruijff.”
