Ciudadano argentino, Profesor de Derecho Internacional en el Instituto de Altos Estudios Internacionales y del Desarrollo en Ginebra, Miembro Asociado del Instituto de Derecho Internacional y Director General de la Sociedad Latinoamericana de Derecho Internacional. Recibió un doctorado de la Universidad de Ginebra (IUHEI) y ha sido profesor visitante en diferentes universidades europeas. Se ha desempeñado como asesor y abogado de varios Estados en los casos ante la Corte Internacional de Justicia. Consejero Legal y Abogado ante el tribunal arbitral correspondiente para la República Argentina en el caso concerniente a la fragata “ARA Libertad” (Argentina v. Ghana). Autor de cientos de obras en el ámbito del Derecho Internacional, en francés, inglés y español. Su libro « Posesión Contestée et Souveraineté territoriale » (Prescripción Adquisitiva y Soberanía Territorial) recibió el Premio Paul Guggenheim de 1997. También ha sido ponente o co-ponente en materia de Sucesión de Estados e Inmunidad de los Estados para la Asociación de Derecho Internacional, el Consejo de Europa y el Instituto de Derecho Internacional.

Marcelo Gustavo KOHEN (1957)
Argentine citizen, Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Associated Member of the Institute of International Law and Director-General of the Latin American Society of International Law. He received a PhD of the University of Geneva (IUHEI) and has been visiting professor in different European Universities. He has acted as counsel and advocate for a number of States in cases before the International Court of Justice. Legal Counsel and Advocate before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea for Argentina in the case concerning “ARA Libertad” (Argentina v. Ghana). Author of about a hundred of works in the field of International Law, in French, English and Spanish. His book ‘Possession Contestée et Souveraineté territoriale’ (Adverse Possession and Territorial Sovereignty) was awarded the Paul Guggenheim Prize 1997. He has also been Rapporteur or Co-rapporteur on matters of State Succession and State Immunity for the International Law Association, the Council of Europe and the Institute of International Law.
