This is a very grave report which proves that Iran is continuing to make rapid progress toward the red line that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sketched in his 27 September 2012 UN speech. Today, Iran is closer than ever to achieving enriched material for a nuclear bomb. Preventing Iran from attaining nuclear weapons is the first subject that Prime Minister Netanyahu will discuss with US President Barack Obama during the latter's expected visit in less than a month.

The news item carried today by "Yedioth Ahronoth" regarding the issue of reparations to Ghetto workers does not reflect reality, and certainly not the position of the Israeli government. We do not know of any linkage between the handling of reparations to Holocaust survivors and the issue of settlements.

Israel works hand in hand with the relevant authorities in Germany, including the Chancellor's Office, in order to swiftly resolve in an appropriate manner the dossier of Ghetto workers. The governments of Israel and Germany have been engaged for several years in a close dialogue on a wide range of issues reflecting the excellent relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister's Office would like to note that between the Government of Israel and all its agencies, and the Government of Australia and the Australian security agencies, there is excellent cooperation, full coordination and complete transparency in dealing with current issues.

Pursuant to the many reports, the Prime Minister's Office would like stress that the late Mr. Zygier had no contact with the Australian security agencies.

Following the voting, on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Facebook page<https://www.facebook.com/HEBPMO>, which continued for approximately 48 hours, the logo that combines the Israeli and US flags was chosen (see attachment). The official logo was selected from among three which were designed by graphic artists chosen by the Government Advertising Agency.

The winning logo received 66.8% of the thousands of votes; the remaining votes were divided among the other two possibilities. The winning logo will appear on all official signs and documents pertaining to the visit.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Monday, 18 February 2013), sent the following letter to Pope Benedict XVI:

"Your Holiness,

On behalf of the people of Israel, I want to thank you for all you have done as Pope to strengthen relations between Christians and Jews and between the Vatican and the Jewish State. I thank you also for courageously defending Judeo-Christian values and the roots of our common civilization during your time as pontiff. I have no doubt that these values, which were so essential to building the modern world, are no less critical to securing a future of security, prosperity and peace.
