Purim one of Judaism's more colorful and popular holidays, is celebrated this year between sunset Saturday, 23 February, and sunset Sunday, 24 February, in most of Israel – excluding Jerusalem and a few other cities where Purim will be celebrated from sunset on Sunday, 24 March, until sunset on Monday, 25 March (see below).  Purim is not a public holiday in Israel, but many offices, shops, and public institutions (including the GPO) will operate on a reduced basis.  Schools will be closed, but public transportation will operate as usual, and newspapers will be published.

Between the 16th of February and the 10th of March, 2013, at Kibbutz Beeri there will be exhibited a series of artworks produced under the title “The Spirit of Săpânța” – a Romanian – Israeli traditional and contemporary art project, initiated by prof. Haim Maor in cooperation with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.
The project  “The Spirit of Săpânța” aims to reveal some common features between the Israeli contemporary art and the Romanian traditional art. The artworks (paintings, drawings, documentary photos, video recordings) were made in August – September 2012 in Săpânța, and were presented in an exhibition organized at Galeria Lina - Sinagoga Bistrița, by the Society of Concerts Bistrița, with the support of the Israeli Embassy in Romania, in cooperation with Bistrița Municipal Cultural Center, The Jewish Community of Bistriţa-Năsăud and Bistriţa City Hall.
