Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, last night (Sunday, 23 June 2013), met with a delegation of approximately 25 senior Chinese businessmen led by Hang Lung Properties Chairman Ronnie Chan. National Economic Council Chairman Prof. Eugene Kandel also attended the meeting.
Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed with the delegation members, who represent a broad range of economic and commercial sectors, ways to increase the Israeli business world's exposure to China in order to increase cooperation between Israeli and Chinese companies and develop joint initiatives that will contribute to both countries.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yair Lapid, today (Sunday, 23 June 2013), decided to appoint Prof. Jacob Frenkel as Governor of the Bank of Israel. The appointment will be submitted to the committee headed by Judge Turkel for approval and then to the Cabinet.

The tourism program in which the Prime Minister will participate, in cooperation with the Tourism Ministry, is a major television production directed by travel journalist and producer Peter Greenberg, who is known from his international travel shows on PBS and the Travel Channel. The program covers heads of state who serve as tour guides in their countries and has approximately 300 million viewers around the world.

The Cabinet, today (Sunday, 23 June 2013), approved the decision to increase the quantity of gas for the Israeli economy to 540 billion cubic meters (BCM). From data submitted at the meeting, in 2012, the Israeli economy consumed seven billion cubic meters of gas; thus, even in keeping with forecasts of a significant increase in gas consumption, the quantity will suffice for at least 25 years.

At the evening plenary session of the 2013 Israeli Presidential Conference on Wednesday, a group of the world’s leading economists forecast a bright future for the U.S. and Chinese economies, while expressing caution about the European economy.

Larry Summers, Former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, and Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder of the Blackstone Group, Mr. Stephen Schwartzman headlined the session, presenting their vision for Tomorrow’s Global Economy.
